CASE STUDY: DULUTH CIDER

GROWING A BRAND FROM AN IDEA INTO A LEGACY

BACKGROUND

The rest of the case studies on this site showcase work done for a client. This one’s different.

My wife and I are the founders and owners of Duluth Cider. What began as an idea in 2016 is now a trusted regional brand. The path to get there wasn’t a happy accident, it was a marketing strategy mapped out by the same person who had to make payroll, plan the calendar, and live with the real-world results.

That’s the “both sides of the table” test in practice: not a slogan, but a perspective and a proven process.

The Process

Every project is shaped by the same 5 questions:

1

What's the Goal?

2

Who is the Right Audience?

3

What Do They Care About?

4

Where Do They Spend Their Time?

5

How Do We Reach Them?

CAMPAIGNS

How we addressed specific problems, and how it turned out.

MARKETING THAT PAYS FOR ITSELF

Anyone can show a portfolio of finished pieces. What’s harder to show — and what actually matters when you’re deciding who to trust with your marketing — is judgment under real constraints:

  • A fixed budget
  • A real deadline
  • An owner’s stake in whether it works.

Duluth Cider is the clearest record I have of that judgment, tool by tool, project by project, over years rather than one campaign.
